Extreme crafting...

I mentioned in a recent post that I'd sent for an Extreme knitting kit.  It arrived yesterday, and I've finished it.  I suppose that's a good thing, and a bad thing.  The kit itself cost just under £40 - that included 8 balls of yarn, a feather cushion pad (41cm) and Extreme knitting needles (19mm x 500mm).  2 of the yarns were the same, and I used 7 yarns at once.   It is a concept devised by Rachel John and here's a video of her setting a world record (1000 yarns)
Anyway, here is the knitting not long after I'd started it last night

The needles across the knitting are 3 3/4 mm.

And now a close up of the stitches

Now having done this - I decided to knit a cover for my phone, along the same lines, but using 4 yarns - 3 of the ones in the cushion cover, and one of my own - on 5 1/2 mm needles

I also did some baking today - this was  inspired by my reading of a book "Shades of Grey" by Jasper Fforde.   There is a section in it which ends "And all in the time it takes to bake a tray of scones".  I happened to mention on my FB page that I fancied making scones and my pal offered me some home made jam to go on them.   So I had to bake  - haven't made scones for years, the result was pleasantly pleasing, but I don't get the jam until tomorrow.

And finally (for the pics anyways) I got a Sheena Douglass stamp set from friend "As Scene on Screen 1" so I had a bit of a play - used water colour pencils for the first time

Another practise piece which may well make it somewhere.     And after I'd done it I discovered she has some video tutorials of lots of intersting stuff on her blog/website

It could be another week till I post again, so stay safe out there in blogland and thanks for reading

Later folks
xx

  1. Oh my goodness you have been busy, four fabulous makes! The cushion looks amazing and what a good idea to knit a phone cover to match. You've done a great job for first time watercolouring. Enjoy your scones...yum! x

  3. Wow you've been busy. I love scones (comes close to choccy cake!) How hard is it to knit with such big needles? The wool used is scrummy.
